For far too many Minnesotans, getting sick or caring for a sick family member means making the painful decision between going to work anyway or staying home without pay.

That’s why, for more than a decade, Minnesotans who believe in a more caring and equitable economy for families have fought for paid family and medical leave.

As a new mom, I joined the fight as an organizer. Then I co-authored the bill in the state legislature. Now, I’m honored to stand with so many others to finally get it across the finish line.

Yesterday, Governor Walz signed a nation-leading paid family and medical leave bill into law, taking one more substantial step towards making Minnesota the best state in the country to raise a family.

Paid family leave isn’t just the right thing to do. It is an investment in the overall strength and resilience of our state. By ensuring that individuals have the support they need during crucial life moments, we can foster healthier families, increase employee retention, and maintain a more productive workforce.

This is a victory that is truly close to my heart, and it wouldn’t be possible without you and this grassroots team who power our work day after day, month after month, year after year.

John, as Minnesota Republicans signal they’ll do everything they can to retake power and roll back the progress we fought so hard for, I’m asking you to stand with us today.

Our first end-of-month deadline since the end of this year’s legislative session is on Wednesday, May 31, and we set a goal of raising $30,000 online to prove that we’re ready to defend our historic victories this year.
