The Hazard Pay for Health Care Heroes Act would strengthen protections for health care workers.
John, I have exciting news!
Today, I introduced my first bill in the House, the Hazard Pay for Health Care Heroes Act, along with Senator Ed Markey to strengthen protections for health care workers.
From train derailments to the COVID-19 pandemic, our health care workers show up for their communities every time a disaster strikes, even if it means putting their own lives at risk. It's time we show up for them with pay and protection — not just talk.
I'm proud this bill already has over 20 co-sponsors, but we need grassroots support from people like you to make this legislation law. Will you join our push to ensure critical funding for hazard pay and safety for health care workers with a $5 or more donation today?

Since my time as an organizer, I've been fighting for fair wages and safe conditions for our hospital workers, and I'm proud to advance our work to support health care workers in Congress.
This legislation would empower the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services to issue hazard pay grants of up to $13 per hour and implement safety measures such as making Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and alternative transit available for workers during emergencies or extreme weather disasters.
We must be prepared for the next pandemic or extreme weather disaster, and that includes having protections in place for the full spectrum of health care workers including home care workers, medical technologists, nurses, doctors, and environmental services staff.
It's going to take a strong people-powered movement to pass the Hazard Pay for Health Care Heroes Act and make sure our health care workers receive the support they deserve. John, can I count on you to advance this work with a $5 donation today?
In solidarity and gratitude,
Summer
