Dear Friend,
Like many of you, I was disheartened to see the 36% increase in antisemitic incidents noted in our 2022 audit. Two states within our region, Maryland and Virginia, ranked in the top 20 states of reported incidents. With this continued rise across the United States, community leaders and organizations have looked not only towards ADL to lead and aid the charge to combat antisemitism and hate, but for a more nationalized change through government initiatives. That is why we welcome today's announcement
of the first-ever comprehensive U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism with the support of the White House. Almost a year ago today, in June of 2022, ADL released our COMBAT Plan, a proposed set of government initiatives to fight antisemitism.
If you'd like to learn more about the first-ever national strategy to fight antisemitism, register for our May 31 Fighting Hate From Home webinar here.
This White House initiative is a great next step for our country as we seek to understand the increase in antisemitism and ways to combat it. We thank you for your continued support of our efforts and mission. Antisemitism impacts us all and we must take actions to ensure it does not continue to infiltrate our society.
Sincerely,
Meredith R. Weisel
