Friend—I ran into George Santos at DragCon last week.

As portrayed by the iconic drag artist Meatball, I was unfortunately unable to confront Rep. Santos about his hypocrisy as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community; mainly his support of anti-drag and anti-trans bills across the country. 

There have been at least 650 anti-LGBTQ bills introduced in state legislatures so far in 2023. Last year, there were 141 incidents of anti-LGBTQ protests and threats targeting specific drag events.

Santos and other right-wing legislators’ support of bigoted bills is having direct negative effects on our community, and we need the federal government to take action and stop it.

Kitara Rivache wants to criminalize drag; I want to combat his dangerous hypocrisy in Congress.

This people-powered campaign is building steam, and already got 30% of the vote in the two-Democrat 2022 general election. With the incumbent running for senate, we’re in prime position to win this open seat.

But we’ll need your support to get there.

Drag is more than just a hobby or an art form—it’s a career for many people, including myself. Drag bans put even more pressure on a community that’s already marginalized and striving for acceptance.

Queer and trans people deserve our support. We deserve representation, in both media and government.

And I’m working tirelessly from now until our primary next March to make that happen.
