Governor Whitmer Makes Appointments to Boards and Commissions?

??

LANSING, Mich. ? Today, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced the following appointments to the State Board of Ethics, State Survey and Remonumentation Commission, Residential Builders' and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors' Board, Michigan Board of Psychology, Mental Health Diversion Council, State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision, and Human Trafficking Commission.?

State Board of Ethics?

Rev. Leslee Fritz, of Lansing, is the senior pastor at Lansing Grace United Methodist Church. She is a former deputy director of the Michigan Department of Civil Rights and was chief of staff to Lt. Governor John Cherry. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Albion College and a Master of Divinity in Theology from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Rev. Fritz is reappointed to represent Democrats, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring February 7, 2027.?

Catherine McClure, of Chelsea, is a retired attorney and serves on the American Bar Association Section on State and Local Government Committee on Ethics. She served as legal counsel and policy analyst for the Michigan Senate Democratic Caucus. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Education from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctorate from the University of California - Berkley. Ms. McClure is reappointed to represent Democrats, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring February 7, 2027.?

The State Board of Ethics has jurisdiction to determine the ethical conduct of classified or unclassified state employees, and public officers of the executive branch of Michigan state government who are appointed by the governor or another executive department official. ?

State Survey and Remonumentation Commission??

Mrs. Karen Hahn, of Big Rapids, is the Mecosta County Register of Deeds. Hahn attended Central Michigan University. Mrs. Hahn is reappointed to represent grant administrators, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring October 20, 2026.?

The State Survey and Remonumentation Commission consults with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to create and distribute a model county plan that may be adopted by a county with any changes appropriate for that county.?

Residential Builders' and Maintenance and Alteration Contractors' Board?

Mr. Troy Young, of Fowlerville, is the owner of Dollins Construction. Young received his bachelor?s in construction management from Ferris State University. Mr. Young is appointed to represent licensed residential builders, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring March 31, 2027. He succeeds Herman Harris whose term has expired.??

The Michigan Residential Builders and Maintenance and?Alteration Contractors Board was created to license and regulate persons engaged in the construction of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure, or persons who undertake the repair, alteration, addition, subtraction or improvement of a residential structure or combination residential and commercial structure for compensation other than wages for personal labor.?

Michigan Board of Psychology??

Ms. Latricia Powell, of Saginaw, is the senior fiduciary business consultant for LA Powell and Associates. She received her Bachelor of Science in organizational psychology and Master of Business Administration from Central Michigan University. Ms. Powell is appointed to represent the general public, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring December 31, 2026. She succeeds Mindy Bradish-Orta whose term has expired.??

Mr. John Randle Sr., of Farmington Hills, is the assistant superintendent of human resources and employee relations at Ann Arbor Public Schools. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Michigan State University, Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Toledo. Mr. Randle is appointed to represent the general public, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring December 31, 2026. He succeeds Melinda Fernandes whose term has expired.??

The Michigan Board of Psychology was created to work with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs to promulgate rules and grant licenses to professionals in the field of psychology. The Board has a duty to promote and protect the public's health, safety, and welfare. The Board implements this responsibility by ascertaining minimal entry level competency of health practitioners and by taking disciplinary action against licensees who have adversely affected the public's health, safety, and welfare.???

Mental Health Diversion Council ?

Mr. Timothy Smith, of Petoskey, is court administrator for Charlevoix County Probate and Family Court. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a J.D. from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Mr. Smith is appointed to represent court administrators for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring January 30, 2025. He succeeds George Strander whose term has expired. ?

Mr. Carter Bright, of Marshall, is the director of law enforcement for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi Police Department. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University. Mr. Bright is appointed to represent local law enforcement for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring January 30, 2025. He succeeds James A. Blocker whose term has expired. ?

The Mental Health Diversion Council is an advisory body to the governor within the Department of Health and Human Services charged to advise and assist in the implementation of a diversion action plan and provide recommendations for statutory, contractual, or procedural changes to improve diversion. ? ?

Michigan State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision?

Mr. Russ Marlan, of Lansing, is the deputy director of Field Operations Administration for the Michigan Department of Corrections. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. Mr. Marlan is reappointed to represent compact administrators for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring October 31, 2026.?

Mr. Aaron Sepulveda, of Detroit, is the local government and public safety policy advisor for the Executive Office of Governor Gretchen Whitmer. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Medical Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University. He also holds a Master of Public Policy from the Humphrey School of Public Affairs. Mr. Sepulveda is appointed to represent the executive branch for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring October 31, 2026. He succeeds Ayako Takai whose term has expired. ?

The Interstate Commission for Adult Offender Supervision will guide the transfer of offenders in a manner that promotes effective supervision strategies consistent with public safety, offender accountability, and victims? rights.?

Ms. Alice Johnson, of Warren, is an advocate for Neighborhood Legal Services of Michigan and founder of Sister Survivor National Connect. Ms. Johnson is reappointed to represent individuals who have survived human trafficking, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring March 1, 2025.??

Honorable Lisa McCormick, of Dimondale, is a judge with the 30th Circuit Court of Ingham County Family Division. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from the University of Pittsburgh and a J.D. from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Hon. McCormick is reappointed to represent a circuit court judge who serves in family court, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring March 1, 2025.??

Ms. Leslie King, of Grand Rapids, is founder and president of Sacred Beginnings Transitional Homes. She holds an Associate of Arts from Grand Rapids Community College and studied social work at Grand Valley State University. Ms. King is appointed to represent individuals who have survived human trafficking, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring March 1, 2025. She succeeds Joyce Dickson-Haskett whose term has expired. ?

Mr. Jeff Getting, of Kalamazoo, is the prosecuting attorney for Kalamazoo County. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Western Michigan University and a J.D. from the Indiana University School of Law. Mr. Getting is reappointed to represent a county prosecuting attorney, for a term commencing May 25, 2023, and expiring March 1, 2025.?

The Human Trafficking Commission is designed to identify sources for grants that will assist in examining and countering human trafficking, fund research programs to determine the extent and nature of human trafficking in this state, and provide information and training to police officers, prosecutors, court personnel, social services personnel, and other individuals.???
