Three years following George Floyd's death, Congress has failed to act and deliver legislation to bring accountability to law enforcement nationwide.

John, let's remember: Without the countless activists on the ground who started a movement in 2020, we wouldn't have witnessed the largest protests in U.S. history — spanning coasts and across continents and pushing tens of millions to take the streets. And the only reason the nation, and the entire world, became aware of the murder of George Floyd was because of Darnella Frazier, who filmed the encounter.

Floyd's killer was found guilty — a glimmer of justice in a sea of injustice. But, our fight for systemic change continues.

Black Lives Matter organizations and the dozens of grassroots coalitions involved were clear about their goals: seek justice, reimagine public safety, and bring awareness to the reality of existing while Black. Yet, to this day, police continue to act with impunity and violence, killing unarmed Black and brown Americans at an alarming rate.

There have been plenty of educational materials and symbolic gestures. But we have failed to address police accountability head-on and still have yet to meet the moment with the urgency and courage it deserves.

These protestors put their lives on the line for this cause. They did their job as citizens. Now, it's our responsibility to get to work.

John, I am calling on Congress to listen to the American people crying for justice and reintroduce the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. Add your name to demand the House take action and to show solidarity in our fight for policing reform » [link removed]

Thank you,

Dwight
