John,
Negotiations for our nation's economic future and the current debt ceiling
are well underway and we're racing towards the June 1 deadline.
Republicans are holding our economy hostage to force their extreme agenda.
Republicans are trying to force through drastic cuts that could take jobs
from 780,000 people, nutrition assistance from 1.2 million women, infants,
and children, and Medicaid coverage from up to 21 million Americans.
Surrendering to these extremist demands sets a dangerous precedent that
emboldens Republicans to pursue additional, anti-democratic
hostage-taking.
We can’t let that happen. That’s why I am leading the Congressional
Progressive Caucus in calling on the President to consider every
legislative action possible to prevent our country from defaulting and
maintain critical federal support to our communities.
But in order to make an impact, I need as much support and momentum as
possible to amplify this call for action. [ [link removed] ]Can you add your name to our
petition to support a key solution to halt major cuts to domestic
priorities and put an end to Republicans' gridlock on our economy?

Right-wing Republicans like Kevin McCarthy are more invested in meeting
with bank executives and setting unrealistic demands including proposing
deep cuts to key federal programs in exchange for raising the debt
ceiling.
We can't afford to have any leadership in office who would rather send our
economy into a spiraling recession than raise the debt ceiling and put our
country back on track. And we can't afford to miss out on this moment to
urge Republicans to set personal interests aside and show up for everyday
Americans.
[ [link removed] ]Add your name to our petition today to ensure that our government makes
the best choice for the future of working people and refuse Republicans'
threat of destroying our economy.
In solidarity,
Pramila Jayapal
