2023 Georgie Awards® Winners Find Gold at the End of the "Yellow Brick Road"
CHBA BC
On Saturday, May 20th, B.C.’s top home builders and renovators gathered at the Hyatt Hotel in Vancouver to celebrate the year’s best residential construction projects at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC’s (CHBA BC) Georgie Awards®. Now in its 31st year, the awards are B.C.’s most prestigious homebuilding, renovation, and housing awards.
The highlight of the Georgie Awards every year is the unique theme that provides the setting of the event and is eagerly anticipated by gala attendees. This year guests were treated to a trip to the “Emerald City” as the gala captivated with its magical theme inspired by the timeless classic, "The Wizard of Oz" with emcees Todd Talbot of HGTV’s Love it or List it and Erin Cebula of Entertainment Tonight Canada.
“The Georgie Awards are a testament to the excellence, professionalism and innovation that defines the residential construction industry in British Columbia. They are an opportunity to celebrate the incredible work being done by builders, renovators, designers, and marketers, and to recognize their contributions to the communities they serve,” said Neil Moody, CEO of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia. “With the Wizard of Oz theme adding an extra layer of excitement, this year's awards were filled with energy and excitement in anticipation of the announcement of winners.”
The Georgie Awards® would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, including Platinum sponsors, BC Housing and Telus. A full list of sponsors is available here.

Survey on Youth Perceptions of Skilled Trades
Vancouver Economic Commission
The Vancouver Economic Commission is seeking your help to spread the word about a research survey it is conducting to gather information on Youth Perceptions of Skilled Trades.
The project is being conducted in collaboration with the Community Energy Association for a team of youth at CityHive’s Youth Climate Innovation Lab. It aims to understand the perception-reality gap of an underrepresented talent pool and gain insights into why diverse youth may not pursue green building trades.
Currently, they are seeking help in 2 areas:
• Please share the link to this short Google survey to youth (aged 16 – 25): Youth Perceptions on Skilled Trades
• They are also seeking interviews with skilled tradespeople to understand the current state of green jobs and the skills needed to implement Zero Emissions Buildings as part of many municipality climate action goals. Details are:
- 10–15-minute phone interviews with skilled tradespeople to get their perspective on this critical issue.
- The interview will be conducted by the youth and will cover topics like career pathways, and experiences in the skilled trades.
- The interview is for research purposes and will only be included in the final report with consent.
The interview period is from May 4th to May 19th. If you are interested in participating, please contact the project team at [email protected].
