On the one-year anniversary of the Uvalde massacre, instead of holding space for those traumatized and the irreplaceable lives lost, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his run for president.
Our nation cannot afford four years of Desantis. This year alone, Desantis has backed an effort to lower the statewide age requirement to purchase a rifle, calling a current law that bars 18-year-olds from buying firearms "unconstitutional." He rolled back permits on concealed carry, despite data showcasing that the state concealed carry law helped lower the homicide rate by 36%.

Yesterday was the anniversary of the death of 21 people who were murdered at the hands of an AR-15-style rifle. 19 of whom were elementary school children. Those forever grieving and permanently traumatized is an uncountable and unacceptable number.
