This is a time to celebrate the rich diversity of our Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities, and to highlight all of the magnificent contributions that the AANHPI community has made to our nation throughout history. From Representative Dalip Singh Saund to Vice President Kamala Harris, we have seen AANHPI leaders at the forefront of our country for decades. So many have paved the way for us to celebrate our cultures, our identities, and our communities, and we hope to continue to do the same for those that come after us. The AANHPI community has been vital to the fabric of this nation for centuries, and we will continue to be for centuries to come.
To commemorate this important month, the DNC AAPI Caucus hosted Key to the Future, A Heritage Month Celebration on Thursday, May 11th. Chair Jaime Harrison, Senator Tammy Duckworth, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller of Maryland, and a panel of five young AANHPI organizers and leaders were able to discuss the importance of the AANHPI community to the Democratic Party.
So let us all take some time this month to reflect on the giants on whose shoulders we stand on, and to also continue to build the foundation for a more equitable society for all in the future.
