Dear John,

Last week, we came together to celebrate the Ms. Foundation’s 50th anniversary at the 2023 Women of Vision Awards. It was an incredible evening, filled with power, with joy, with sisterhood, and with generations of game-changing, badass feminists. We were so proud to honor our six incredible honorees, and hear their stories. They spoke to the need to do the work now to establish a better world for our mothers and grandmothers, our children and their children, and ourselves.

During the program, I was excited to join campaign co-chairs Alex Busansky and Suzanne Lerner in announcing the launch of Creating the Future We Deserve, our largest fundraising campaign to date, with a goal of raising $100 million over the next year. Broadly, the campaign will empower grassroots organizations led by women and girls of color, expand the gender and racial equity movements, and scale effective, targeted philanthropy.

Co-founding Mother Gloria Steinem shared a poignant outlook during the event: “This is a celebration of a time in which it is so much better. That one day in the future, we won’t need gender and race and class focused foundations because we will all be together, and individual, and without adjectives.”

I invite you to join me in creating that future today.

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane
Chief Advancement Officer

Grantee Partner Spotlight: Life After 2 Losses

After suffering loss herself, Vu-An Foster saw a disconnect in how mothers might be reliving their child loss trauma in support sessions. That's how Life After 2 Losses was born - to teach women and families the skills they need to heal from their loss and change the maternal health system.

Creating the Future We Deserve Campaign

In honor of our 50th anniversary, we kicked off our boldest campaign to date: Creating the Future We Deserve. The campaign aims to raise $100 million over the next year, which will accelerate the movements for gender and racial equity by providing support to grantee partners throughout the country to strengthen reproductive justice, improve economic security, and support equity and justice for all.

For more information about the campaign, check out our article in Philanthropy News Digest or visit www.forwomen.org/future.
