I've always believed healthcare is a human right-- which is why I was proud to join my Progressive Caucus colleagues in reintroducing Medicare for All last week. 

As the deadline for the default on the United States' debt looms, I'm continuing my fight for a clean lift of the debt ceiling to protect working families' healthcare, food assistance, and veterans' benefits. That's why I joined a letter to President Biden urging him to invoke the Constitution’s 14th Amendment to make federal payments on time, rather than acceding to bad-faith attempts to strip Americans of the services they rely on the most.

As Dean of NY's Congressional Delegation, I recently convened a meeting with bipartisan members of the Delegation and Governor Hochul to discuss the State’s response to the end of Title 42 and the asylum seekers arriving in New York City. Together, we're fighting for additional federal funding to allow NY to better respond to this situation, and to extend work authorizations to asylum seekers so they can join the workforce and become active participants in our communities.
