Team,

The word on everyone’s mind in Congress this week? Compromise.

You know that I am one of the biggest proponents of compromising. I believe that when we work together, we are stronger as a nation, and it’s how we reach some of the most effective solutions. Just last year, Congress worked together to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and because of that legislation, more than 32,000 projects across America have been awarded funding, creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs.

Right now, one of the most critical deadlines in recent history is looming. Congress must reach a deal on the debt ceiling crisis before June 1, and in order to get there, we need to reach a compromise.

One thing that our nation cannot compromise on is healthcare. Several members of Congress have supported cutting funding for critical programs like Medicare in order to reach a deal. Even more have suggested imposing bureaucratic requirements on low-income families relying on Medicaid for lifesaving care.

America is the only industrialized nation in the world that does not guarantee its citizens access to comprehensive health care. That means we should be expanding a program like Medicare, not cutting it. That means we should be increasing access to Medicaid, not gutting it.

I reintroduced my Medicare for All bill to fix America’s broken healthcare system by creating a universal healthcare system that ensures everyone has access to quality, affordable healthcare.

This week is a critical week for compromise, but I need your support to make it clear that Medicare is not on the table and Medicaid shouldn’t be either. Please stand with me today and sign on to my petition to say it’s time to expand access to lifesaving care and treatment, and create a universal healthcare system in America. [[link removed]]
