DOUBLE your impact to stop a new oil railway project that would

2x MATCH: Stop the Uinta Basin Railway

Help stop a new oil railway project that would unleash MORE
carbon pollution than the controversial Willow Project! All gifts
DOUBLED, until May 31! Even just $5 will have an impact!

Dear NRDC Activist,

Oil and water don't mix.

That simple truth will become a tragedy if we don't stop
the Uinta Basin Railway — a new proposed railway that would
transport millions of gallons of heated, waxy crude oil near the
headwaters of the Colorado River. It's a catastrophe waiting to
happen.

Not only could a spill from the Uinta Basin Railway poison
one of our nation's most critical waterways, but all the oil it
would transport would unleash up to 56 million metric tons of
carbon pollution per year. That's more than the controversial
Willow Project in Alaska.

We're fighting to stop this train from ever leaving the
station, but we're up against big corporate interests, and we
need your help.

Donate just $5 by May 31 and a generous match donor will
DOUBLE your impact to stop this carbon bomb train and protect our
environment on all fronts. Every donation will be MATCHED
$1-for-$1, up to $100,000. ( [link removed] )

If the recent toxic train derailment in East Palestine, OH
that spilled 100,000 gallons of cancer-causing chemicals isn't
warning enough, consider this:

The federal government estimates that a fully-loaded train
on the Uinta Basin Railway could derail every single year it's
running — potentially devastating an ecologically sensitive,
remote, and rugged location of the Colorado River that's already
experiencing some of the worst impacts of climate change.

And not only would the construction and operation of the
rail line harm rare species like the pronghorn, mule deer, and
greater sage grouse as it cuts through their habitats, but a
catastrophic spill would threaten the livelihood of 40 million
people and 30 tribal nations that depend on the Colorado River.

Your MATCHED donation will make TWICE the impact to stop
this carbon bomb train and protect our environment on all fronts.
But don't wait: this match offer ends at midnight on May 31. Even
$5 will make a big difference. ( [link removed] )

Proponents of the railway want taxpayers to fork over $2
BILLION to pay for the construction. If they succeed, you'll be
subsidizing their corporate profits as they trash sensitive
ecosystems — including an inventoried roadless area — and
accelerate our climate crisis.

The Biden administration approved the climate-torching
Willow Project in the Arctic, and now they are considering the
future of this disastrous railway project. We must mobilize every
resource to ensure this train never leaves the station.

Supercharge our campaign to pressure policymakers, rally
concerned citizens, and support legal efforts to stop this
terrible train.

Donate just $5 by May 31 to stop the Uinta carbon-bomb oil
train and defend our environment, and we'll MATCH your gift
$1-for-$1, up to $100,000. ( [link removed] )

The future of our climate and one of our nation's most
critical rivers depends on your support today.

Please help us stop this plan before it gets approved.

Sincerely,

Josh Axelrod
