My team can
tell you this, but I enjoy history. Particularly the history of our
Commonwealth — and today is a special day in our nation and our
Commonwealth’s history.
On this day in 1787, delegates from the states began to convene in
Philadelphia to discuss and compose a new constitution for the United
States. The constitutional convention would go on to include George
Washington, James Madison, and PA’s own Benjamin Franklin — and what
transpired was one of the most significant events in our history.
The convention brought together leaders who had differing opinions of how
our government should work, but they emerged with one of the greatest and
most enduring constitutions in the history of the world.
And the work to define our
democracy that began on May 25th, 1787 has never stopped. We have spent
more than two centuries striving toward the ideals of liberty, justice,
and equality set forth in the Constitution, and amending it to ensure
rights and freedoms for all Americans.
Some moments in our recent history have reminded us that the fight for our
democracy and to ensure those same rights still continues today.
We have seen Republican extremists try to undermine the integrity of our
elections by suggesting the 2020 presidential election was stolen, and
they have attacked the right to vote across the country.
The fight for a free and fair democracy does not just belong to our
history books. It is a fight that is still happening today, right here in
Pennsylvania — the birthplace of American independence — where we’re
battling to hold this seat and stop Republicans from gaining a Senate
majority.
[ [link removed]- ]With your help, we can defend this seat and our Senate majority. Our
end-of-month deadline is approaching fast, so I’d be grateful if you can
pitch in any amount of support today.

In addition to reflecting on how far we’ve come since the anniversary of
the first day of our nation’s constitutional convention, I hope you will
join me in the fight ahead.
With gratitude,
Bob Casey
