Many LGBTQ+ elected officials have been spreading the word about mental health resources in their states, including U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, U.S. Congresswoman Sharice Davids and California state Assemblymember Evan Low!
U.S. Congresswoman Becca Balint introduced her first bill in the U.S. Congress addressing mental health concerns for kids. Congresswoman Balint’s personal article in The Hill highlights the importance of ensuring that mental health care is accessible for young Americans. This bill will also offer support to LGBTQ+ youth who have been struggling due to the increase in anti-LGBTQ+ bills across the country.

But they weren’t done yet: Sean Patrick Maloney was nominated to be Representative of the United States of America to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, with rank of Ambassador! We look forward to a swift confirmation in the U.S. Senate.
Former Utah state Senator Derek Kitchen was also announced as the acting senior vice president and deputy director of the Office of Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs at the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Congratulations, Derek!

The David Bohnett Leaders Fellowship develops a strong cohort of LGBTQ+ public officials. LGBTQ+ Victory Institute, in collaboration with The David Bohnett Foundation, has sent over 150 outstanding LGBTQ+ leaders to the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program since 2002 and connects these alumni to opportunities for further leadership development. This intensive, three-week Executive Education program hones skills and furthers the leadership potential of accomplished individuals from across the United States.

Over 1,300 LGBTQ+ leaders, elected officials, activists and allies filled out the paperwork to attend, and our Global team is busy sorting through their applications. Only 500 will be chosen to attend the Conference!
