SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza
From SBA Administrator Jovita Carranza

This week, the President made a powerful case that his pro-growth economic policies are not only sustaining record-high levels of optimism among Americas 30 million small businesses, but also driving upward mobility among historically underrepresented minority entrepreneurs. Read my full statement on the State of the Union address here [ [link removed] ].

The most recent jobs report supports this argument jobless claims fell while payrolls soared by 291,000 in January, the largest gain in nearly five years. This report is welcome news for Americas 30 million small businesses, and more Americans are experiencing upward economic mobility as a result of small business investment, expansion, and job creation.

Friday, I had the opportunity to join the President in North Carolina to discuss the incredible power of the Opportunity Zone initiative. Just last week, I was able to visit two Opportunity Zones in Philadelphia, where I saw the revitalization taking place firsthand. As capital continues to flow into these areas, small businesses are proving to be a vital component to their sustainability and longevity. I want you all to know that the SBA is here to help all our entrepreneurs start, grow, and expand their businesses across the U.S.

WOSB Ready
Changes are Coming to the Women-Owned Small Business Certification Program

This summer, there will be an update to an important government contracting program.

The Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Economically Disadvantaged WOSB (EDWOSB) certification process is changing.

Once these changes go into effect, you will no longer be able to self-certify as a WOSB or EDWOSB.

You'll also need to either certify through an approved third-party entity or go through SBAs free online certification.
