Dear Friend,
This week, House Republicans continued our mission to finding commonsense solutions to the problems our nation is facing. I appreciate your reading this weekly update and continue to encourage you to forward to your family and friends.
Debt Crisis
President Biden spent the last six months saying he would not negotiate raising the debt ceiling with Speaker McCarthy and House Republicans. Now, he finds himself exactly where he said he would not be—negotiating the debt ceiling with Speaker McCarthy—but the President still refuses to offer a sensible solution to our nation’s debt crisis. Meanwhile, House Republicans remain the only ones who have passed legislation that would responsibly raise the debt ceiling and address our nation's debt crisis by limiting Washington's irresponsible spending, saving taxpayer dollars, and growing the American economy.
HALT Fentanyl Act
House Republicans are voting this week to protect Americans from the deadly fentanyl pouring through our open borders with the HALT Fentanyl Act. H.R. 467 would make the class-wide scheduling order for fentanyl-related substances permanent, supply law enforcement with the tools needed to keep these dangerous drugs off our streets, and support research efforts to understand the effects of fentanyl-related substances on people's health.
Protecting Against Biden’s Student Loan Overreach
This week, House Republicans are standing up to President Biden’s student loan overreach by voting on H.J. Res. 45, a Congressional Review Act resolution that would block the Department of Education’s extreme forgiveness rule.
