John,
It’s only February, but I’m seeing even bigger challenges to the mission of the Trust for Public Land to stand against attacks on public lands, promote effective conservation programs, and create open space for all Americans… critical work you and I both care about.
Just this week, the Trump administration announced their plans to drill and mine in the iconic and irreplaceable Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments …after chopping them up two years ago. And we’re expecting the President to submit his proposed 2021 budget to Congress soon. If it’s anything like last year, he could propose little to no funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the lifeblood for parks and open space.
John, I know I can count on you to stand with us in the most important fights this year for the preservation of public land and much more.

By making a membership gift today to The Trust for Public Land, you will fuel our much-needed work to:
- help our Federal Affairs team in D.C. defend public lands on three fronts: securing full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund, protecting the Antiquities Act, and making sure that no more national monuments are chopped to pieces.
- ensure that every American has a park or open space within a 10-minute walk of home.
- convert bleak, bare schoolyards into green, vibrant centers of the community.
- make communities more resilient and prepared for a changing climate.
All of us at The Trust for Public Land are committed to doing whatever it takes to achieve our critical priorities this year. Please join the fight today by becoming a member of The Trust for Public Land with a gift of $25 or whatever you can afford, before it’s too late. Even a small gift will make a difference in our fight to protect and preserve public land.
Sincerely,
Kim Elliot
