If you’re reading the news this week and thinking the U.S. defaulting on our debt would be pretty serious, consider telling that to Rep. Ken Buck.
While Speaker McCarthy attempts to distort the reality of his weak bargaining position and disastrous proposals, Buck has taken his pandering to new heights, shamelessly using the GOP-manufactured crisis to gain more airtime on Fox News. His latest half-baked solution? Buck says that if the U.S. defaults on our debt, Members of Congress should forego their salary...
Listen, Ken: destroying the nation’s credit doesn’t get us anywhere. We don't need you to sacrifice your paycheck—just do your damn job and stop trying to throw our country into chaos for political gain.
Buck doesn't seem to care how default will harm those who have served this country in uniform, like myself, or regular families dealing with skyrocketing interest rates and prices.
Coloradans deserve better than a dime store cowboy who spends more time on Fox News than with people in his district. I am a Marine Corps veteran who supports an economy for working people, common-sense gun safety, and bold action to combat climate change.
Kevin McCarthy may have a narrow majority in the House, but Democrats control the White House and the Senate. If the Senate provides a clean debt ceiling hike that President Biden has already pledged to sign, choosing default would be nothing short of insanity. Yet, here we are, with Ken Buck and the Republicans flirting with disaster.
Thank you for your support—right wing extremists like Ken Buck need to be kicked out of office so that Congress can get to work for the People again.
