Dear John,
On the one-year anniversary of the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, the leading cause of death in children and teens is no longer car accidents. And it’s not cancer.
Since 2020, guns have surpassed all other causes of death for children and teens in America.
It’s hard to stomach, but according to the Gun Violence Archive, more than 6,000 children were shot in the United States in 2022, and more than 1,600 were killed by gunfire.
These numbers are shocking, but what will Republicans do to promote responsible gun reform in America? Watch this week’s video to find out, then please share it widely.
What exactly will Republicans do, other than wear lapel pins shaped like AR-15 rifles? When it comes to gun violence: pretty much nothing.
Republicans claim they want to protect kids, but they’re blocking meaningful gun reform and instead banning things that aren’t dangerous at all, like books about civil rights heroes, classes on African American studies, drag shows, and pride flags.
A majority of Americans support real gun law reform in this country. Whether it’s instituting universal background checks, passing red flag laws, or banning concealed carry without a permit.
But can Republicans be bothered with these priorities? Of course not. They’re owned lock, stock, and barrel by the gun lobby.
Let’s remind Republicans of what’s important. Let’s vote them out and bring in a new era of responsible gun legislation.
Thanks for watching our video, and helping to get the word out now.
