Right now, our freedom to vote is under attack. States are passing new voter ID measures at a dangerous and unprecedented pace. Ahead of midterm elections, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a stricter ID law that was in effect when voters cast their ballots last year. And this week, he's expected to sign a law that creates even more barriers for voters who want to make their voices heard.

Seventeen states have passed new or stricter ID measures since the 2020 elections, with eight states passing such measures in 2023 alone. VoteRiders is working year-round, around the clock and across the country to ensure that all voters have the free ID help they need to secure a valid voter ID and vote with confidence.

But every new state implementing stricter voter ID laws increases the need for our services.

The stakes are too high in the 2024 presidential election to leave anyone out. No eligible voter should ever be kept from the polls due to fear or confusion over voter ID laws.

 After 11+ years doing voter ID work, we know all too well that some people are more impacted by voter ID laws than others. Black, elderly, and young Americans are less likely to have a current, unexpired, government-issued photo ID. Also among the 11% of Americans without this type of ID are the millions of people who may not have an ID that reflects the name they used when they registered to vote because they changed their names due to marriage or divorce.

 Together, we can ensure folks have the help and education they need to secure voter ID now, before time runs out in 2024.
