John, We need to stop Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin's sick, right-wing agenda RIGHT NOW. Youngkin just released a one-minute ad to announce his intention to run for President. It's great stuff, ya know, if you can get past how he fawns over Ronald Reagan, a man who's been dead nearly 20 years and not President since 1989 (pssst, you've had 3 GOP Presidents since, the most recent guy's name rhymes with "rump"), and the fact he quotes Reagan on standing up to Russia, while his party has lined up at Vladimir Putin's bedside. THE KEY:Youngkin's pushing a crazy right-wing agenda in a state he tricked into thinking he was a moderate. We certainly can't let any Dems enable Youngkin, as he goes full authoritarian on abortion. Yet, a Democrat, Joe Morissey, who was twice disbarred as state prosecutor and charged with "delinquincy of a minor" for a relationship with a seventeen year old receptionist at his law firm, is supporting Youngkin. Morissey's the only "pro-life" (read: anti-choice) Democratic state senator who supports Youngkin's anti-abortion bill. In addition to Youngkin, Republicans control the state house and we only have a one-seat, pro-choice margin in the state house, at risk in November. But we can fix it. June 20th, Virginia has its primaries, and we have an outstanding Democratic candidate challenging Morissey, former State Delegate Lashrecse Aird. This AP piece describes how just about every elected Democrat in VA is supporting Aird: We don't know how the November general election will go, we could lose pro-choice seats, and we only have that one seat margin. So why not double that margin, one month from today, to a 2 vote pro-choice VA State Senate majority, by removing so-called Democrat Morrissey and replacing him with Aird? She's made abortion rights the centerpiece of her campaign with a "Roe Not Joe" tour around the district. Youngkin's greedy for power, so he'll fight harder for a profane, full abortion ban in Virginia to boost his presidential run. Yet, he can't do it without the votes. Again, the primary is June 20th, but early voting has already begun! Will you join Blue Amp's "Roe Not Joe," effort by supporting former Delegate Lashrecse Aird with $5, $10, $25 or whatever you can to protect abortion in Virginia and the country from Youngkin? We must stop anti-abortion extremists, be they "Democrats" like Morrissey or Republicans like Youngkin. Cliff |
