I love this job and the opportunity to serve the people of our state.
We’ve thrown ourselves into the effort to provide more housing of all kinds for all our neighbors. That work bore fruit in this last session, called by many “The Year of Housing.” More major bills were passed in this year’s session than any in state history, much of it built on our work.
More work remains, however, to make sure the job gets done. After all, without effective implementation, there is no policy!
We’ve also launched a civic health project because we believe nurturing our democracy is not a one time job. Respectful discourse, including listening to others especially those traditionally marginalized, requires constant effort. As President of the Senate, I see this on a daily basis.
Paula and I were recently blessed with our third grandchild, Cameron Grace. As you can see, she is precious beyond words.
