PEAK2023 began with these words from our President and CEO Satonya Fair: “I’ve been looking for a beacon on the hill to guide philanthropy forward and I realize that the beacon on the hill is me. It’s you. We are the beacon on the hill. We are who we have been waiting for.”

Earlier this month, 1,244 members of our community joined to reunite, to celebrate, to learn, share, and evolve, and to become empowered as change agents for philanthropy. Here, we share a few of the many highlights of the PEAK2023 experience.

** The Big Ideas of PEAK2023 in Four Graphics
------------------------------------------------------------

The four keynotes that were the cornerstones of PEAK2023 focused on building communities of care that empower all people to show up as their full selves and use the power they have to strategically reshape the practice of philanthropy. These graphic recordings distill the wisdom of David Daniels, Tanisha Davis, Satonya Fair, Storme Gray, Trista Harris, Natasha A. Harrison, Miyesha Perry, Gwyneth Tripp, Ruchika Tulshyan, Trabian Shorters, and Lori Villarosa to help you initiate changemaking conversations at your organization.

** PEAK’s 2023 Annual Membership Meeting
------------------------------------------------------------

** Coming Together at PEAK2023
------------------------------------------------------------

PEAK offers members diverse peer spaces for learning, sharing, and evolving in our thrivingchapters ([link removed]) andpeer groups ([link removed]) . Each month, we showcase the meaningful programming and networking taking place in these volunteer-led spaces.

During the convening, all of our peer communities hosted sessions ([link removed]) that ranged from the purely social and fun to the deeply thought provoking. The DEI Learning and Support Community of Practice hosted a session “Leaning on Each Other: Collaborative Learning to Advance our DEI Practices” while the Black Caucus took a dive deep into effective and responsive philanthropy in Black communities in “What if Philanthropy Loved Black People?,” and the AANHPI Caucus had boba beverages for attendees at their networking event. In addition, some chapters paired opportunities for reconnection and idea sharing with regional flair—like “Being Wicked Smaaht” with the New England Chapter or the Greater Washington, DC chapter’s capital region-themed “Triviapalooza 2023.”

** PEAK in Community
------------------------------------------------------------

Here’s the latest on how PEAK is engaging with members, partners, nonprofits, and allies in advocating for transformative change and leading the way in advancing equitable and effective grantmaking practices.

PEAK has signed on to a letter from The Charitable Giving Coalition supporting the Charitable Act ([link removed]) , a House companion bill to S. 566 that would restore the non-itemizer charitable deduction and raise the caps from $300 for individuals ($600 for joint filers) to approximately $4,600 for individuals ($9,200 for joint filers).

PEAK has joined with Independent Sector and hundreds of nonprofit and philanthropic allies in endorsing the Nonprofit Stakeholders Engaging and Advancing Together (Nonprofit SEAT) Act ([link removed]) , new federal legislation that would establish government structures and policies that would formalize and increase collaboration between government and nonprofits to more effectively pursue shared goals.
