Dear Friend of the Institute,

This month we conducted our annual Levy Economics Institute conference, the 30th such conference since the inception of the series. The event was organized around panel discussions on unemployment and job creation, the US macro outlook, climate change and fiscal/monetary policy, and inflation—featuring perspectives and conversations that moved beyond the common narratives in economics, finance, and public policy.

SUPPORT OUR PROGRAMS

Later this month, we will celebrate the 8th graduating class from our Master’s programs in Economic Theory and Policy. This year’s thesis presentations covered topics such as currency hierarchy and underdevelopment; the employment impacts of a New York State child care program; patriarchal norms and women’s employment in Lebanon; the impact of a Swiss-style wealth tax on economic well-being; and a Minksyan view of credit crunches and the Silicon Valley Bank collapse. Our students will move on to bring their unique training and intellectual orientation to careers in academia, think tanks, activist/community organizations, government, and the private sector.

As we turn toward the next academic year, please consider making a gift to help strengthen our programs. Your donation will enable us to continue delivering signature research and events while expanding into new areas of study and modes of outreach, or support the growth of our student body and provide greater opportunities for scholarships and research internships—all in the service of a mission to create, teach, and disseminate public policy ideas that make a difference.

Sincerely,

Dimitri B. Papadimitriou

Institute President
