Public officials should be on the side of the public, not developers

Here at VoteWater we make a big stink about special interests showering elected officials with campaign cash.

That’s because dirty money = dirty water.

But clearly, we’re thinking too small. For what’s mere campaign cash when you can pay a politician directly?

Last week it was reported that Miami Mayor Francis Suarez was making $10,000 per month as a consultant for a developer.

It's yet another example of how special interests game the system in Florida - and how citizens get the shaft.

VoteWater's Gil Smart joined Friends of the Everglades Executive Director Eve Samples for a livestream look back at the legislative session that ended earlier this month - and how much damage it did to the cause of clean water.
