📍⛰️🚗 Today on our Voting Rights Road Trip, we’re making a stop in Nevada!
Nevada isn’t just home to sweeping mountain ranges and the largest gold-mining operation in the U.S. — it’s also a national hub for the labor organizing movement, led by Latino workers. For decades, union workers have leveraged their voices into progress on wages and working conditions, and ultimately Democratic political power. And just like in past elections, Nevada is a critical swing state that could determine the balance of power in 2024.
Battle-born voters have shown their collective power in Nevada, and that’s why Republicans are determined to stop them. Despite Democratic control of the Nevada legislature and a pro-voting Democrat as Secretary of State, Republicans have already introduced eight anti-voter bills in 2023 with an eye towards tipping the scales in 2024. Most recently, Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo proposed extreme changes to the state’s election laws to require stricter voter identification and limit the acceptance of mail ballots. Make no mistake: these changes are designed to make voting more difficult, and less accessible, for Nevadans — particularly voters of color.
When we see voter suppression in action, we fight back.
