Last year, my race ended up being one of the closest races in the entire country. We stunned political experts by outperforming every election forecast in CA-41, and I was the only Democratic challenger in California to win the independent vote.

Here’s more about me and why I’m in this race:

After 9/11, I knew I wanted to work in counterterrorism. That led me to the National Security Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, where I served as a prosecutor. In recent years, I've seen firsthand that some of the biggest threats we face are right here at home.

More and more, I was handling domestic terrorism cases, many of which involved right-wing extremists who were motivated to do our country harm in the name of a political agenda.

This type of conspiracy-fueled extremism is a threat to our democracy. We can’t allow it to take root in our politics, let alone the country. We need leaders who will protect our institutions and bring accountability to those who would harm them.

My opponent Ken Calvert has been one of the worst enablers of the MAGA agenda in Congress. Calvert, and extremists like him, are willing to do and say whatever it takes to hold power -- even if it means undermining democracy and putting lives at risk.

The stakes are high, and we’re also facing unprecedented challenges in 2024. With Trump back on the ballot -- and control of the House and Senate at stake -- reproductive rights, Medicare, Social Security, and voting rights all hang in the balance.

We came closer than anyone expected to flipping this seat in 2022, and I wouldn’t be in this race if I wasn’t confident we could finish the job. But I can’t do this alone:
