John,
My name is Steve Kerr. You might know me as the coach of the Golden State Warriors — but that's not why I'm writing to you today. What matters today is the 19 children and two teachers who were killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, exactly one year ago.
Do you remember what you felt on that day, reading those headlines? For me it was horror, heartbreak, and then rage. When I held a press conference for the NBA that afternoon, all that spilled over — and I stand by every single word.
Today, I'm still sick and tired of the condolences we offer that do nothing for a parent who's going home to their child's empty bed. And I'm still fed up with the pathetic bought-and-paid-for politicians who put their own desire for power above the lives of our children at every single turn.
So today, I'm asking you, just as I asked you a year ago: Do not let yourself get numb to this. We can't just take our moment of silence and move on. We've got to fight for change with everything we have, and we've got to support organizations like Brady who are making a real impact in this work. And today only, a group of committed donors has offered to match every donation up to $100,000. Please, John, will you join me today by making a matched donation to power Brady's fight for life-saving gun violence reform?

As someone whose father was killed by gun violence, as a dad myself, and as an American, I'm disgusted by the gun lobby's grip on Washington.
There have been 40 more school shootings since Uvalde and hundreds of mass shootings at churches, grocery stores, festivals, and practically every place imaginable. We're trapped in a cycle of deadly violence and Americans have had enough.
The vast majority of voters support both universal background checks and an assault weapons ban. But because of fat checks from the gun lobby, half of our leaders in Washington continue to offer empty prayers instead of real solutions.
I've spent the last year working with Brady to advocate for change, elect gun safety champions, and finally break this cycle of violence. Trust me on this, they're an incredible organization full of passionate, hardworking people. But here's the thing: As a nonprofit organization, the funds that they use to take on the gun lobby come entirely from folks like you. [[Donors/prospects: So today, I'm personally asking you to recommit to this fight by making a donation to support Brady, defeat the gun lobby, and finally win change in Washington. Today only, all gifts will be matched up to $100,000.

Families in Uvalde have spent this past year grieving and fighting for justice in the form of change. I hope that by next year, we'll be able to celebrate victory for them and for every family impacted by gun violence.
Thank you,
Coach Kerr
