The negotiations around the debt ceiling continue to stall as the risk of default gets closer and closer. If the GOP gets their way, they’ll cut programs that American families depend on for survival. My Democratic colleagues and I are working to ensure that the people we represent are not left behind.

Kevin McCarthy raised the debt ceiling three times under President Trump, and now he’s flip-flopping to appease his political party. He and his Republican colleagues are ok with leaving working people behind if it means gaining more support for their political careers. 

We must take action. What we’re seeing from Congressional Republicans is unacceptable, and I‘ll continue to work to deliver on the values that matter most to the folks I represent.
