The Founders of the U.S. Constitution never meant for “we the people” to include women, people of color, and other marginalized groups.
And we’re still dealing with the ramifications of that exclusion. Even now, women and nonbinary people face discrimination under the law. Unequal pay. Bias under the judicial system. Legislation to deny us control over our own bodies.
The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is the first step to change that.
Explicitly adding equality for women to the Constitution is key to enshrining some of our most fundamental rights into law.
That’s why Democratic Reps. Cori Bush and Ayanna Pressley recently launched the first-ever Equal Rights Amendment Caucus in Congress to push for the ERA to finally become part of the Constitution. Today, we’re partnering with them to show our leaders that WE THE PEOPLE demand the ERA.
