Dear Friend,
Everyone needs to be talking about the crisis that is maternal mortality
in this country. 2021 saw a 40% increase in families losing mamas during
and after giving birth. Most of these deaths are preventable — which means
maternal mortality is a problem that can be solved.
At MomsRising, [ [link removed] ]in partnership with sister organizations, we are
uplifting Black mamas’ autonomy and joy by sharing stories of resilience
and power. [ [link removed] ]Will you watch Rachel’s story and commit to take action?
The U.S. has the worst maternal health outcomes in the developed world,
impacting Black, Indigenous and Latina moms first and worst. At a time
when Black women are three times more likely to die from a
pregnancy-related cause than white women, independent of income and
education, we must work towards a world where all birthing experiences are
beautiful, safe, free from structural racism, and full of autonomy. [1]
Individualized, community-based care can be a norm for pregnant people.
And a bill written by and for Black birthing people, the Black Maternal
Health Momnibus, can make that happen.

get on the Momnibus!
Congress can and must act now by passing all 13 evidence-based bills of
the Momnibus Act, addressing every driver of this crisis.
Thank you for getting on the Momnibus!
