*Rep. Pelowski **ends **2023 Legislative Session with vote to deliver infrastructure investments for Winona*

Yesterday, on the last day of the 2023 Legislative Session, the Minnesota House passed a bipartisan package of legislation (HF669 [ [link removed] ] and HF670 [ [link removed] ]) investing in jobs and infrastructure projects throughout the state. State Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL - Winona), who serves on the House Capital Investment Committee and helped craft the legislation, secured investments for local projects in Winona.

*?This legislative session has several notable accomplishments, including a record investment in the state?s Disaster Assistance Contingency Account, and an impactful Higher Education budget that freezes tuition for Minn State schools, provides free education for low-income families, and increases access to higher learning while preparing students for the workforce,?* said Rep. Pelowski, who authored the legislation on these accomplishments.* ?One of our final votes was for a capital investment bill, which delivered funds for asset preservation at Winona State and Southeast Tech, along with investments in the Mississippi Riverfront Trail and the Winona Public Safety Center.?*

The package of legislation delivers $4.8 million to Winona State University for the Center for Interdisciplinary Collaboration in addition to asset preservation, $5 million to the City of Winona for the Mississippi Riverfront Trail, $7.5 million for the city?s Public Safety Center, and $18 million for the state?s Port Development Assistance Program, which will benefit Winona Port.?

Outside of the package of infrastructure bills, Rep. Pelowski also recently passed his legislation, HF 1223 [ [link removed] ], in the Tax Bill, enabling a local option sales tax for the Winona County Law Enforcement Center.?

Having passed both the House and Senate, the infrastructure bills now head to Governor Walz for his anticipated signature. Video of yesterday?s floor debate can be found on the House Public Information YouTube channel [ [link removed] ].
