Dear John,
Speaker McCarthy is playing a dangerous game, threatening to force our nation into default if his demands are not met.
The United States is approaching a make-or-break debt limit deadline, and Speaker McCarthy is making demands for budget cuts targeting investments in climate, clean energy and key social safety net programs.
By refusing to raise the debt ceiling, the Speaker and MAGA extremists are putting both our climate and financial futures at risk. It’s critical that we take action today. We must defend the programs that protect the health of our planet and our people. Raise your voice and urge the President to continue to stand against Speaker McCarthy’s reckless demands. If approved, the Speaker’s rollbacks would hurt millions of American workers and threaten the 9 million jobs experts expect President Biden’s clean energy plan will create. And we’re already seeing results. In fact, U.S. companies have announced more than 142,000 new clean energy jobs since the president’s clean energy plan took effect last August. These are family-sustaining jobs for electricians, mechanics, construction workers, technicians and many others.
And every state will benefit. We’re already seeing new jobs in places with strong potential for generating clean, renewable energy. This includes states like windy Oklahoma and sunny Florida. To date, approximately two-thirds of clean energy projects are in districts represented by Republican lawmakers.
Communities across the U.S. are relying on these investments, and we need to let President Biden know we are behind him, defending climate progress. Send a message to President Biden and urge him to stay steadfast against Speaker McCarthy’s brazen attempt to hinder our clean energy progress. [link removed]
