Friends,
Police brutality is not just an issue of a “few bad apples,” but a system of injustice rooted in structural racism.
And when we talk about how systemic brutality causes suffering and trauma, we have to talk about qualified immunity. Qualified immunity is a court-invented doctrine that makes it nearly impossible for law enforcement officers to face lawsuits or personal liability for abuses committed in their official capacity.
It’s time to restore our rights and bring accountability to law enforcement. I’m honored to introduce the End Qualified Immunity Act alongside my friend and colleague from Massachusetts, Senator Ed Markey.
Together, Sen. Markey and I are building a strong coalition around this vitally important legislation. We’ve already collected endorsements from major civil rights groups and a number of cosponsors in Congress.
But passing this bill won’t be easy. And as much as we've built a strong alliance in Congress, passionate, grassroots support provides the energy and momentum that will help us achieve real change.
The strength of our movement lies not just in the halls of power, but in the hands of the people. It's in every dollar donated, every petition signed, every voice raised in protest.

Whether you can chip in today or not, I want to express my gratitude.
Thank you for being a part of this movement, for your commitment to justice, and for believing in a future where everyone can live free from fear of violence at the hands of law enforcement. We can only do this with your support.
In solidarity, we will make a difference.
