Hi folks,
When I first ran for Mayor of Phoenix, many of you may remember the TV ad we launched focused on the accomplishments I achieved as a councilwoman but noting the challenge it was to get my son to eat his vegetables.

Joking aside, being a mother nearly prevented me from running for mayor. I had a support network different from most. I was uncertain of the optics of being a young, unmarried mom.
Now, I am incredibly grateful to have had great friends and supporters who pushed me to run. “Don’t let your being a mom hold you back because we need moms to be in office,” is the message they shared with me.
Thank goodness I listened, because I’ve learned that being a mother has helped me become a better mayor. Many of the challenges we face such as water security and climate change would be easy to leave to future mayors, but I won’t push off problems to the next generation.
A mom's perspective is unique, and I'm proud to now serve with not only a female-majority council but a mom-majority council.
Our city is facing pressing issues. If there is anyone capable of taking them on and solving them – it’s a mom.
We have more work to do to ensure Phoenix is a safer, more prosperous place to call home. Will you support my efforts to do so today? [[link removed]]
Thank you,
Mayor Kate Gallego
