John,
With this year’s June primary elections just around the corner, it’s time for voters across the city to finalize their plans to vote. This year, all 51 council seats are up for election in New York City.
The new City Council district lines that take effect this year have brought about significant changes, with several districts becoming highly competitive.
One notable change is the newly created Council District 43 ([link removed]) , which is majority AAPI and reflects the rapid growth of the AAPI immigrant community in South Brooklyn. The new district has created a historic opportunity for this community to be fairly represented by a candidate of their choice and has become a battleground ([link removed]) for many candidates vying to serve on the City Council.
To help voters make informed decisions, join us, the New York Immigration Coalition, APA Voice, and its diverse member organizations, for a community conversation with the candidates for NYC Council District 43, including Susan Zhuang and Wai Yee Chan, on Thursday, June 1 at 6:30 pm at Park Asia ([link removed]) . This event offers simultaneous interpretation, please RSVP to reserve your seat.
The forum will provide a unique opportunity for community members and voters in the newly redrawn district to meet the candidates, ask questions, and learn more about their policies and vision for their community and city. The forum will be moderated by Brooklyn-based reporter, Gwynne Hogan from The City.

It is crucial that the newly drawn Council District 43 is represented by a Councilmember who is a true champion of immigrant New Yorkers and of the AAPI community in South Brooklyn. Join us to learn more about the emerging candidates in one of the most watched local races happening in New York City.
In power,
Wennie Chin
