Investing In Our Future

A letter from Doug White Thank you for supporting my campaign; I have not stopped. My core campaign team and I founded Rural Americans United (a 527 registered in Washington State). We have listened, learned, and realized that spending huge amounts of money, your money, on rural races was a long shot. It would be better to invest in building our political infrastructure to ensure lasting gains. Due to a glaring absence of political infrastructure in rural areas TWO THIRDS of state legislatures are now republican controlled. Look at Florida, Tennessee, Kansas, North Carolina, Texas, Idaho or at our very own Tri-Cities to see the rise of the far right. Our mission is to increase the Visibility and Voice of Democrats in Rural Areas by building Infrastructure and Party membership, taking back America starting right here at home, Washington State.

Why now? Ground level building of political infrastructure in rural areas is greatly under under resourced. As a result: Far right rhetoric dominates news and conversation Democrats live in increasing fear GenZ and Latino voters in rural areas are trending right National and state wide elections increasingly bypass rural areas Fewer democrats standing for office in rural areas Democrat and Dem leaning organizations increasingly back republican candidates Core Democrats are aging out LGBTQ+, immigrant and minority hate, CRT, anti vax, book banning all start in rural areas through unchecked far right propaganda

What we do: We build! Operating with a business model we strategically build infrastructure (physically with our hands), grow market share (democrats and moderates) and create brand loyalty (sustainability and election wins) to deliver a measurable return on investment.

Our projects: Funding a Democratic Headquarters in Tri-Cities. A statement of Democrat’s commitment to rural Washington Volunteer recruitment and retention strategy with the goal of doubling the number of active volunteers in key regions by end of 2023 Tri Pride festival. The Tri-Cities Pride Festival had been canceled and Rural Americans United took up leadership. There will be a Tri-Cities Pride this year! Candidate identification and support. Keeping the pipeline full with capable progressive to moderate candidates so that no race will be unopposed. Media management, the republican rhetoric is complete, Democrats have lost that connection with the media. We will rebuild the voice and messaging of Democrats through media buy and improved relations Gun Safety program to engage, schools, parents, law enforcement, community leaders and gun safety organizations. Democrats must own this space Providing skilled resources to build and maintain sustainable programs

How do we do all of this? Simple, we do it with you! We do not have all the answers, those come from the communities. We listen, apply smart strategies, skills and resources to ensure that projects are successful and reach critical mass to support themselves after a time. We monitor and measure so that knowledge learned can be shared with others. How we fit in: We compliment the Democratic National Committee's approach (DNC). The DNC uses a war model; placing extraordinary resources and vast amounts of money on isolated wins, thus leaving other areas (rural) unprotected from republican incursion. The DNC does not build the party, we have to do that ourselves. National Rural NGOs largely provide knowledge and funding distribution. Aligning with them saves cost on research and accesses additional funding streams but has low to no effect.

We physically, with our sweat, build infrastructure and the Party by providing people, sustainable strategies, organization, office space and technology, investment, media management and skills development. We have listened and learned from hundreds of dedicated democrats, democratic organizations, community organizations, State Party, National Party and others. There is almost no interest in doing the grass roots work of building Democratic infrastructure in rural communities and the small number of passionate volunteers on the front line need help. We are losing to Republican rhetoric and organizing. Believe in your neighbor and invest in your community. We count on your support to grow and build strength in the Party.
