Having just passed 2 major pieces of climate legislation in the state budget - The All Electric Buildings Act and Build Public Renewables Act, we still need to push for the rest of the Climate, Jobs, and Justice Package, such as The NY HEAT Act. An introduction to green investments

Do you contribute to an investment plan, or save for retirement or for a child's future education? Most likely, you're funding fossil fuels. Join us tomorrow for a conversation about different types of investments and the possibility of a future where your assets can meet your values while earning a reasonable financial return. Rally for Albany climate action
Bryant Park May 25th, 2023 at 4 pm
The Albany legislative session will end on June 8th but we've got a number of bills that are still in play. NY Renews will host rallies all over the state to pressure lawmakers to get them done, including one in NYC. We'll gather in Bryant Park in Manhattan and then march to Governor Hochul's NYC office on Third Avenue. Prepare to be loud! If you're coming, let NY Renews know. City Action monthly meeting

Join us to learn about the campaigns we support to reduce emissions in NYC buildings, reduce waste from city eating establishments, support offshore wind development, and stop new fossil fuel infrastructure expansion. Parenting in the age of climate change
Greenpoint Public Library June 6th at 6:30pm
How do we talk to kids about climate change and bring climate activism into the busy routine of parenting? How can we process our emotions in order to effectively respond to this threat? Join other parents in the climate movement for an important and engaging panel and group discussion and come away with concrete ideas and resources for a greener future. In place of 350BK’s June monthly meeting, the People vs. Fossil Fuels workgroup is organizing a Teach-In as part of more than 20 coordinated national actions happening from June 6th-11th. The event will focus on how multinational gas corporations continue to expand natural, aka fracked, gas infrastructure and are planning rate hikes to get NYers to pay for it! Speakers will include Raya Salter (Energy Law & Justice Project), Kim Fraczek (SANE Energy) and Annie Carforo (WEACT). After getting schooled we will march to Nat Grid! Can’t wait until June 8th? For the love of mother earth: Voices of BIPOC leaders
Barclays Center Plaza June 3rd, 2023 at 2 pm
An Extinction Rebellion (XR) event dedicated to amplifying the voices of BIPOC climate activists and leaders, at Barclay's Center plaza from 2 to 5pm. There will be live music and dance performances, as well as a lineup of inspiring climate activists and representatives, including CM Osse from Bed Stuy, other City Council Members and electeds, composting and community garden leaders are invited; it's an opportunity to hear from voices that are often underrepresented in the climate conversation. Our great podcast team needs researchers to work on Climate Check: Stories + Solutions, a half-hour monthly series that covers local climate activism from farming to legislation to plastic waste to fossil fuel resistance. Researchers identify and investigate potential topics and guests. Time commitments vary but include a monthly meeting. This is a collaborative project with a great spirit! Molly discusses the People vs Fossil Fuels coalition and its demands for how the Biden Administration should address the climate emergency. City Action Committee works to make our city a leader in setting and implementing climate policies that improve life for all NYC residents, especially frontline communities. Our current campaigns include zero-waste legislation, green transportation, healthy buildings, and renewable energy. You can join us weekly online for Power Hour, where we call, tweet, submit testimony, and email our legislators to push for specific climate legislation and action. Evening Power Hours are all about learning, writing, and advocating.

Climate Check Stories and Solutions is 350Brooklyn’s podcast. Each monthly episode breaks down the climate crisis through conversations with local climate activists and community organizers. We discuss individual climate stories and pinpoint policies and local actions that can lead us to a healthier climate and a more just society—from fighting pipelines to working with nature and everything in-between. The Climate Idea Exchange works to deepen public understanding of the climate crisis, breaking it down into manageable topics and offering resources for local action. People vs. Fossil Fuels/350BK is an action focused-group that works with the national PvFF coalition calling on President Biden to declare a climate emergency, stop approving fossil fuel leases and exports, and support the work of frontline communities across the country. Plastic Free works to eliminate plastic pollution and reduce reliance on single-use plastic products. We meet monthly via Zoom, and work on a variety of projects including legislative lobbying efforts, campaigns promoting going plastic free, and neighborhood efforts to reduce waste. Stop the Money Pipeline plans and participates in direct actions that pressure financial institutions to stop funding deforestation and fossil fuel industries.
