Hi Friend, The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is considering a once-in-a-generation change to how they manage public lands. As part of this process, they are hosting a meeting in Reno, Nevada on Tuesday, May 30th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm to gather input from the public. Will you plan to attend and voice your support? Historically, BLM’s management of public lands has favored extractive uses over conservation and recreation. 90% of BLM public lands in the lower 48 states are open to leasing for oil and gas. The vast majority of these places are also open to hard rock mining. Now, BLM has launched a comment period to gather feedback about the ways it should balance its mission and focus on conservation, recreation, wildlife, and cultural lands protections. This is a historic opportunity to shape the future of public lands. Please plan to attend BLM’s in-person meeting on May 30, 2023 in Reno, Nevada at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, 4950 S Virginia Street, Reno, Nevada. We need to participate in this session and show our support for a balanced approach to management of our public lands. And if you haven’t yet, please submit a comment to the Bureau of Land Management today in support of this effort. Thank you for your support, |
