RESPONSE MISSING FROM [email protected]

Do you think Congress should address the gun violence epidemic?

[link removed]

This link to our LIVE POLL was generated for [email protected] only. Deadline: 11:59 p.m.

Tomorrow marks the first anniversary of the deadly mass shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas. nineteen children and 2 teachers lost their lives that day. But the gun violence epidemic in our country has only gotten worse.

From schools to banks, grocery stores to malls, Americans are forced every day to contend with the reality that the next mass shooting could be at any place, in any state. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can prevent these tragedies by replacing incompetent, do-nothing GOP leaders with bold Democratic women ready to make change.

Leaders like State Rep. Gloria Johnson, a founder of Emerge Tennessee, who has fought for red-flag bills, and State Sen. London Lamar (Emerge Tennessee) who has fought for stricter permitting requirements.

Leaders like Congresswoman Lucy McBath (Emerge Georgia), who ran for Congress after she lost her son to gun violence, turned her activism into legislation. McBath was instrumental in seeing the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act of 2022 – the first major national legislative action on gun violence prevention in almost 30 years – signed into law. But the majority of Republicans in Congress voted NO.

John, it’s going to take persistent pressure from our movement to achieve real lifesaving action. That’s why we’re asking 47 more Emerge community members – including you – to respond to our urgent poll before the deadline at midnight tonight:

Do you think Congress should address the gun violence epidemic?

– Team Emerge

Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are running up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities, such as the environment, accessible and affordable health care, social justice, and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support — that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women. If you’d like to donate, click here.
