Yesterday, eight new plaintiffs who each suffered extreme harm due to Texas’s abortion laws joined the Center for Reproductive Rights’ case against the state of Texas. Since we originally filed this case in March, dozens of women have reached out to us to share their similar and harrowing stories.
We're now representing 13 patients and two doctors in the case, and they are just a few of the many people being seriously impacted by these draconian laws.
As a direct result of Texas’s abortion bans, Texas is in the midst of a health care crisis. Will you step up today and make your gift to support reproductive rights in Texas and beyond? [[link removed]]
ABORTION IS ESSENTIAL [[link removed]]
What happened to these women is indefensible and is happening to countless pregnant people across the state. These bans don't just hurt patients: the conflicting language in Texas's abortion bans has resulted in pervasive fear and confusion among doctors, who face up to 99 years in prison, at least $100,000 in fines, and the loss of their medical license for violating the abortion bans.
It is clearer than ever that abortion is a vital part of maternal health care, and health care decisions should be left to doctors and patients, not politicians. We'll need you in this fight, right now. Are you with us? [[link removed]]
As the lead attorney in the case, I can tell you firsthand that the state of Texas has harmed our clients and is putting more lives at risk every day— and must be held accountable. [[link removed]]
In addition to adding eight more plaintiffs to our lawsuit, we have also asked the court to block Texas's abortion bans as they apply to pregnancy complications while the case proceeds.
As I prepare for the next step in our case against Texas, I am emboldened by your support. Please give today to help fuel this critical work. [[link removed]]
