E. Jean Carroll seeks fresh damages from Trump after CNN town hall
Carroll sought to amend her defamation lawsuit against the disgraced ex-president to include further damages over slanderous remarks he made about her during his CNN pep rally town hall event earlier this month. Clearly, he should have done what he is pathologically incapable of and kept his mouth shut. [RETWEET THAT!]

Trump was warned about retaining classified documents, notes reveal
Federal prosecutors have evidence Donald Trump was put on notice that he could not retain any classified documents after he was subpoenaed for their return last year, as they examine whether the subsequent failure to fully comply with the subpoena was a deliberate act of obstruction by the disgraced ex-president. Despite the warning, Trump held on to numerous documents, a clear violation of the law and a compelling reason to indict him a second time.

Marjorie Taylor Greene defends boyfriend after old drag video surfaces
Drag for me but not for thee, Marge? The hypocrisy is just astounding. If drag really is all the ridiculously awful things that Greene and her homophobic cronies all say it is, then she should be appalled that her boyfriend was wearing it on the local news! Kids could have been watching! But no, actually, she's "literally lol'ing" about it...because drag is fun and she's just pushing this anti-gay culture war bullshit because it plays well with her vindictive, hate-filled supporters. Harlan Crow gushes about Clarence Thomas’ mom’s cooking
So a seedy billionaire backer regularly spends time at Justice Thomas' family home he quietly purchased and renovated, pays for lavish family vacations, and enjoys delicious home-cooked meals from his rent-free tenants. Crow admitted he and Thomas occasionally delve into work topics when hanging out but insisted that they never discuss “matters that relate to the judiciary.” Case closed. What's the big deal? Kevin McCarthy is pushing our country over the cliff
atAdvocacy Partner: The Speaker of the House and his MAGA puppetmasters have made it clear they don't care how much damage they do to our economy and to the American people with their nihilistic debt ceiling hostage crisis. Anti-Putin militia crosses border and overruns Russian village
The Kremlin was dealt a stunning blow as a partisan Russian militia force aligned with Ukraine apparently crossed into the Belgorod region of Russia and overran a border village, a daring military act that would have been unthinkable in the early days of the war when it seemed like Putin might steamroll all of Ukraine in a matter of weeks.
DeSantis’ $13.5 million police program lures officers with violent records to Florida
Numerous cops lured to Florida by Gov. Ron DeSantis’ flagship relocation program have histories of excessive violence or have been arrested for crimes — including kidnapping and murder — since signing up. This, of course, is a feature not a bug of the law enforcement recruitment program. DeSantis may be hemorrhaging billions of dollars and thousands of jobs in his stupid war with Disney, but he's doing a bang-up job beefing up that thin blue line with cast-offs and loose cannons alike.

Today’s Action: Support the Writers Guild of America strike!
The writers of all our favorite TV and streaming shows are currently on strike, and for very good reason. While the advent of streaming has unleashed a torrent of wonderful, high-quality entertainment, it has proven financially calamitous for writers, who have found themselves working for less and less pay year after year. Adjusted for inflation, writer pay has dropped 14% over the past five years! On top of that, their jobs (and the future quality of our favorite shows) are being threatened by the looming specter of AI-generated content and the hunger of big corporations to cut every single job they possibly can to maximize profits.
The companies' behavior has created a gig economy inside a union work force, and their immovable stance in this negotiation has betrayed a commitment to further devaluing the profession of writing, the Writers Guild of America said in a statement.
CEO compensation last year averaged roughly $32 million at the industry’s 12 major media companies. It's obvious these juggernauts can afford to properly compensate their writers. If they won't, then writers should continue to strike until they receive a fair contract.
Support striking WGA writers by donating your time and/or finances! You can write letters of support, donate to the Snacklist (which delivers food and coffee to striking writers), share their demands using the WGA social media toolkit (#WGAstrong, #WGAstrike), or — if you’re in LA or New York City — join them on the frontlines!
