My dear friend, Tom Carper, has just announced he will retire from the Senate at the end of his term. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for his friendship and service.

Tom Carper isn’t just a colleague and a friend; he is a steady, significant leader who has shaped Delaware over decades. Whether as a representative, governor, or senator, Tom Carper has always been a shining example of the Delaware Way.

Tom has never stopped focusing on working across the aisle, solving complex problems, and making a lasting difference. He has been a great mentor and role model for me and generations of Delaware leaders.

I look forward to serving together for the remainder of this Congress and to supporting my colleague as he decides on the next chapter in life’s adventure.
