As I begin another busy week in Washington, DC, I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:

Mr. President, don’t default on the American dream
After months of saying he wouldn’t, President Biden has done exactly what Republicans predicted he would, sit down at the negotiation table to discuss the debt ceiling. The American people saw House Republicans pass a fiscally responsible path forward, yet the president says we must trade away all but the most basic spending cuts in our bill. As I told my colleagues, here's the core of this debate: it’s not whether the federal government will default on its debt, but whether we will continue to allow this nation to default on the American dream.

The truth is the American Dream is out of reach for most citizens, and the biggest obstacle standing in their way is the very government supposed to protect them. The Biden administration fuels inflation with its reckless spending and then pretends like everything is fine. Biden’s out-of-touch spending agenda must end. That’s why I won’t stop fighting for the hardworking American family who just wants their country back. 

Setting the record straight:
Last week, I addressed the House floor to break down some of the biggest lies being sold to the American people right now. From calling men women to saying securing the border is not compassionate, the radical left is working overtime on trying to confuse our society. That’s why I wanted to set the record straight.

Fighting for a secure border
Meanwhile, the southern border is still in chaos and Texas is still under siege. I joined Fox & Friends over the weekend to discuss the need for House Republicans to hold DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas accountable through impeachment.

Improving Americans' access to lifesaving medicine
The American people should not have to wait years and years for bureaucrats at the FDA to sign off on medicines that are already approved in other trusted countries. That's why I introduced the "Reciprocity Ensures Streamlined Use of Lifesaving Treatments" (RESULT) Act to expedite the FDA's approval process for potentially lifesaving medicines.

TX-21 Veteran sets out on 3,700-mile cross-country bike ride

Air force veteran and New Braunfels resident, Chuck Sonnenberg, has been chosen for this year’s Warrior Expeditions Greater American Rail-Trail ride. I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck last week before he set out on this journey. Sending prayers to Chuck and these great American veterans during their travels!
