Happy Friday.   Another week has come and gone, and it's been a busy one in Washington.

State of the Union

I was in the House Chamber as President Trump delivered his third State of the Union speech. I told the President as he was leaving, I thought it was one of the best speeches I've ever heard.  It was filled with optimism about our country and our future.

There were also some great moments, like the member of the Tuskegee Airmen being promoted, while standing next to his grandson, who dreams of someday joining the U.S. Space Force.  I was also glad to see Rush Limbaugh receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom.  I ask you to join me in praying for a full recovery from his lung cancer.

President Trump Acquitted

I sent you a message earlier this week about President Trump being acquitted of the two-impeachment articles against him.  Only 49 Senators voted in favor of removing the President, nowhere close to the 67 votes required by the Constitution.  Also, as I said earlier this week, now that this is behind us, it's time to move on.  It's time to focus on the issues the American people sent us to Washington to work on.

National Prayer Breakfast

The National Prayer Breakfast also took place this week in Washington.  President Trump, Vice President Pence and a large, bipartisan group of members of Congress were in attendance.  The National Prayer Breakfast is a tradition that goes back to 1953.  Every President since Eisenhower has attended.  The event is a time for us to come together and pray for our nation and each other.

Have a Great Weekend!

I hope you have a great weekend.  And as a former TV meteorologist in Huntsville (H.D. Bagley) used to say every Friday, "No matter where you go this weekend, go to church on Sunday."
