Article III and Supreme Court Term Review 

Wednesday, May 31 | Introductory Class at 12 p.m. ET and Advanced Class at 2 p.m. ET

In this session, students explore Article III of the U.S. Constitution, which defines the powers of the judicial branch and the Supreme Court. This class covers the nomination and confirmation process of Supreme Court justices and how judicial power (and the Supreme Court’s role) is defined in Alexander Hamilton’s Federalist No. 78 and cases such as Marbury v. Madison (1803). This session will go right to present day and review the current term to date.

Supreme Court Cases to Watch Featuring MSNBC’s Ali Velshi

Friday, June 2 | 1 p.m. ET

For our final Fun Friday Session of the 2022-2023 school year, MSNBC’s Ali Velshi returns, joining National Constitution Center President and CEO Jeffrey Rosen to discuss the Supreme Court and some of the biggest cases the justices are considering this term. Rosen regularly joins Velshi to break down constitutional issues in the news as part of MSNBC’s and the Center’s A More Perfect Union series, as he did this past weekend. Velshi will also discuss his career in journalism and answer questions from participants.

Virtual Tour: Civil War and Reconstruction

Wednesday, May 24 | 12 p.m. ET

Explore the Center’s compelling exhibit, Civil War and Reconstruction: The Battle for Freedom and Equality, as one of our museum educators leads viewers through the exhibit. Throughout the tour, you’ll hear the stories of people central to the conflict over slavery and give you an up-close look at special artifacts on display. The May tour will also explore the Memorial Day holiday’s roots in post-Civil War America.

Virtual Program: How America Remembers

Friday, May 26 | 1 p.m. ET

Join the Center’s education team for a lively conversation exploring some of the most recognizable memorials and monuments in the United States, from the Lincoln Memorial and Little Bighorn to the U.S.S. Arizona and the Vietnam War Memorial. Learn about the history of memorials, how memorials and monuments remember and honor the past, and consider why these memorials are important. 

Memorial Day Weekend at the Center

Join us at the National Constitution Center with free admission from Saturday, May 27 through Monday, May 29.

All weekend long, the National Constitution Center honors Memorial Day by taking a closer look at famous memorials and monuments, and uncovering the complexities of how a nation remembers. In addition to access to all the Center’s exhibits and artifacts, programming includes flag ceremonies, discussions on U.S. memorials through history and across the country, family-friendly workshops and lectures, as well as crafts for learners of all ages.

Sal Khan on Civics, AI, and the Constitution

The National Constitution Center and Khan Academy are partnering to create a free online Constitution 101 course premised on a simple, radical act: bringing together genuine experts who genuinely disagree about the most important constitutional issues facing our nation today; and use their examples to model thoughtful, respectful civil dialogue.
