Hello John,
What are Community Assemblies?
Community Assemblies (also known as People’s Assemblies) bring together members of a community and empower them to discuss the questions that matter most to them.
They allow us to show that a better, more inclusive democracy can work - and put pressure on politicians to bring about change. Assemblies are also a great opportunity to strengthen our alliances, by hosting them with other organisations and community groups.
See an Assembly in action and join your local XR group to find out more.
How can we organise one?
Starting from 25th May, you can attend training designed to help local groups run their own Assemblies:
- Community Assembly Facilitation: Learn how to facilitate an assembly. 25th May and repeats on 1st June, by Trust The People. Register here
- Engaging Your Community: Reflect on how to be inclusive when engaging with those in your local area. 27th May and repeats on 8th June, by Trust The People. Register here
- Engaging Local Politicians: Learn how to communicate the urgency of climate change with your local politicians. 13th June and repeats on 11th July, led by Hope For The Future. Register here
If this sounds exciting to you, help your local group to make it happen!
