John,
It’s been a busy month here at Team DelBene, and I’m here with another download to get you up to speed in case you missed anything!
We kicked off May by celebrating all the wonderful teachers in our lives with National Teacher Appreciation Day. Our teachers do critical work, so let’s continue to support them by paying them what they deserve, and including their voices in decisions and law-making.
We fought for our working families by introducing bipartisan legislation to expand and strengthen the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit. Washington state has felt the brunt of the housing crisis, and in nearly every community I’ve traveled to, lack of affordable housing is making it difficult for families to budget and for employers to find workers.
We’re also fighting to keep America from defaulting. Extremist Republicans are refusing to avert a crisis, repeatedly rejecting proposals from Democrats and the White House. Instead, they’ve passed a ridiculous bill that would cut federal investment in key programs that our communities rely on, repeal the historic efforts we implemented to combat climate change, and make it harder for low-income working families who rely on food assistance and Medicaid.
Enough is enough.
Americans deserve leaders who will fight to support them and their families. That is why it is critical we win back our Democratic House majority. Together we’re committed to making a difference for every single American.
Thank you for being part of this team,
Suzan DelBene
